Suffering a car breakdown while travelling in Europe can quickly turn into a nightmare, especially if you are not covered by European breakdown cover.
Obviously we are biased when it comes to cover for outcomes such as this but we wouldn’t suggest it if we didn’t hear stories from our clients every day about how their insurance ‘saved their holiday’. Our job is to ensure you are aware of the potential issues when travelling in Europe and as part of that service we want to ensure you are fully prepared for your trip.
One of the best ways of minimising the risk of a European breakdown is to prep your car properly BEFORE you go. That way the need for insurance and breakdown services is minimised.
So what do you need to do to ensure your car is ready for the journey? Follow this guide below and you may never have to worry about using your European breakdown insurance cover...
- Ensure your oil has been changed recently
- Check all exterior lights and carry spare bulbs in case of a blowout
- Check your tyre pressures at the local garage and re inflate to optimum levels
- Top up screen wash and coolants.
- Clean your windscreen and lights properly with a glass cleaner
- Change your wiper blades
- Stock some water, blankets and food in the boot
- Check your toolkit, spare wheel and jack and make sure you know how to use them
- Take a mobile phone charger that fits into your lighter socket to ensure you have phone power at all time
