If you are looking to travel to Europe in the next few months then you could do a lot worse than take note of these top 10 European travel tips, designed to help you get the most out of your time abroad and to ensure you don’t get stung by things such as European breakdown costs...
Follow the European travel tips below for a safe journey through your favourite holiday destinations:
1. Be careful where you exchange money in Europe. It is best to check with your bank to find out what the best method of exchange is as some places and countries will charge very high levels of interest.
2. Take photocopies of important documents with you just in case you lose anything. That way if you get pulled over by the Police, have an accident or European breakdown you will have documentation to support your claims.
3. If you drive take a detailed map or Sat Nav with European mapping. If you don’t you WILL get lost!
4. Buy a guidebook of the countries you will be visiting. You'll practical information such as when certain sights are open and close, phone numbers.
5. Don’t try and do too much. Instead spend quality time in a few countries of places to cut down your car or travelling time.
6. Decide what the best method of travel is. Driving offers the most flexibility but unless you have European breakdown cover it may prove to be a risky option.
7. Think about your valuables and how you plan to secure them wherever you are. Use safes whenever possible.
8. Try and learn the language or at least take a phrase book as often the best non-touristy places may not be English speaking.
9. Be flexible with your schedule. There is no point going if you are going to operate to as strict a timetable as you do at home and work. The whole point is to escape.
Take out a good European car breakdown insurance policy before you go so you do not have to worry about sorting things out if your transport does break down.
