Breakdown cover customers are being hit in the pocket by exorbitant insurance renewal costs with motorists saving often more than £100 by making the effort to switch, Rescue My Car has discovered.

With our lives becoming increasingly more hectic many breakdown policies are simply left to roll over to another year to save the hassle of shopping around but it looks as if that bit of hassle may well be worth its weight in gold.

Several documented cases have come to light in recent weeks where existing customers have been stung by much larger premiums than those being offered to new breakdown cover customers.
