Avoid Car Breakdowns This Spring

by NCI 25. March 2010 10:58

Remember the cold snap we had this winter? If new figures are to be believed there is a very good chance you will as it cost the UK’s motorists a massive £1.9 billion on vehicle repair.

Almost 50% of those owning a car reported having to spend extra on their vehicle because of the ice and snow – whether that was on car breakdown issues, accident damage repair or simple things such as more de icer.

Car insurance companies across the board, including Insurance for My Car felt the pinch too as the dangerous roads pushed insurance claims up as previously reported here on the Rescue My Car site.

The concern is that for the 50% that escaped ‘scot free’ there could yet be problems and Rescue My Car’s team are urging our customers to get their cars serviced this spring to avoid a belated car breakdown.

‘Our advice is to get a quick service done at your local garage,’ explains Craig Astbury, spokesman for RMC. ‘The winter may well have had an impact on your vehicle and could yet create a car breakdown issue.’

‘We always advice our customers to give their cars a good clean as this can remove any salts and other corrosive products that could also be causing problems.’
