by SimonPenson 1. April 2010 15:47

With sales of new cars up last month and the new registrations now being seen on Britain’s roads there has never been a better time to remind ourselves of the very best ways to save money on a new car purchase.

And with people generally feeling better about the economy too as we head into a General Election the Rescue My Car team felt it was about time we shared some of our expert car insurance saving tips with you again to help you buy smarter.

We make it our mission to help our customers buy better – whether it be their next car insurance purchase or breakdown cover. Here are our tips captured for you in one document for the first time:

Check the Mileage

If you only drive to drop the kids off at school every day ensure you tell your insurer as your mileage can have a large effect on your policy price.

Share the Load

By creating a ‘husband and wife policy, you can save money as insurers will often offer discounts because of the family bit. Younger drivers can also save money by having their mother or father as second drivers on occasions.

Up the Security

Use immobilisers, alarms and your garage to keep your car away from thieves and your insurance down.

Pass Plus

It may not have been the cool thing to do at school but this extra driving exam will save you cash.

Most important of all though is the fact that you MUST be honest and forthcoming with information about your car and driving as otherwise you may invalidate your policy.
