A new survey commissioned by well known insurers Swinton has discovered that the journey to work could well be the most risky journey of the day. More than half of the motorists in the survey stated that they have had some form of minor accident whilst travelling to work, once again highlighting the importance of UK breakdown cover.
Over 1,200 drivers were surveyed for the poll, which also identified the school run as another risk-filled time for drivers, with 9% of the drivers who took part having received at least a minor incident with another car during this time.
Some of the most common areas in which these incidents occurred were supermarket car-parks, with one in five drivers admitting to bumps and scrapes there, and multi-storey car parks, which accounted for 8% of the drivers admitting to similar incidents.
Mr Steve Chelton, Insurance Development Manager at Swinton, noted that this further emphasised the need for motorists to make sure they are sufficiently covered by their insurance, and emphasized that such minor incidents are ‘inevitable.’
In matters such as these, UK breakdown cover is essential, as insufficient insurance will mean that minor incidents, when not covered, can have a big impact on insurance premiums, which Mr Chelton noted lead motorists to often pay for the damage out of their own pocket, in order to try and make long term financial savings.
