With the festival season currently in full swing, Marks and Spencer have been urging those who are off to a festival to think seriously about investing in UK breakdown cover if they haven't already.
New figures taken by M&S have revealed that at least half of the adults in the UK are planning to attend at least one of the many festivals taking place across the country this summer, with figures estimating that 78% of those people will reach the venues by car, with 57% driving in their own vehicle.
Because of the inevitable increase in traffic, festival season can lead to an increase in the number of breakdowns, which can be caused by a variety of different reasons, one of the main ones being the risk of overheating because of the high density of traffic combined with the hot summer weather.
Speaking on behalf of M&S, Mr Andrew Ferguson urged festival goers to ensure that their summer was ‘a festival season to remember for the right reasons’ by ensuring that they purchased the correct UK breakdown cover, as well as ensuring that their cover was applicable to travelling in Europe if they were planning on attending a European festival.
Estimated figures released by the AA observe that up to half of all breakdowns could potentially be avoided if drivers took the time to make basic checks on their cars before embarking on long journeys.
