The latest research has revealed that many drivers are doing whatever it takes to avoid changes to their insurance perks, which is good news for UK drivers, as it is leading to more care being taken on UK roads.

The survey, undertaken by gocompare.com revealed that while over 70% of consumers had looked at price comparison sites in the last year, but that rather than just decreasing price, they also wanted to obtain the same level of protection, even with cheap breakdown cover.

Having been surveyed, it was a revealed that the public rightly still place great importance on cheap breakdown cover, as well as accessories such as a courtesy car.  As well as this, 97% of those will fully comprehensive car insurance stated that they would be unprepared to adjust their cover to third party for a reduced price, emphasizing the growing awareness that the public has of the importance of obtaining the correct insurance.

Only 2% of drivers stated that they would even consider driving without insurance, and only one in ten would consider giving up their courtesy car as part of their insurance.
The price of cover has also affected the care that road users employ when driving, with more than four in ten claiming that they change gears far more frequently, and over half of the drivers noting that they are consciously slowing down more when approaching junctions and driveways.

Speaking on behalf of gocompare.com, Lee Griffin stated that Car insurance premiums are at an all time high, but that doesn't mean drivers have to give up valuable cover to keep costs down. By shopping around it is often possible to get the cover you want for a lower premium because each insurer will take a different view of you as a risk so, you may well be able to buy a cheaper policy without compromising the level of cover.’
