Maintaining Your Car's Engine

Everybody knows that obtaining the correct breakdown cover is essential when it comes to taking care of yourself and your family.  However, whilst it’s all very well going out and hunting for cheap breakdown cover, there are some things that you can do to help maintain your car’s engine. Following them will decrease your chances of breaking down in the first place – the ultimate aim, in the end!

-Change your engine oil regularly.  This is the most important element of a car engine’s performance, and should be changed regularly, and after every 3,000 miles or so.  If you can change it even more than the manufacturer’s recommendation, then do so.

-Make sure that the air filter is well conditioned.  If it is blocked by any dirt or debris, then this can further hinder the engine’s ability to function.

-If you need to replace any of your engine’s components, then make sure that you use original parts to replace them with.  Using fake or faulty components will mean that might permanently damage your engine, leading to you needing that cheap breakdown cover even more!

-Make sure that your car battery is always in good condition, and that the case doesn’t have any cracks or dirt: if it does, or if you discovered leaks in the battery case, make sure that it is replaced immediately.

-Fluid intake.  Not just essential for us, ensuring that fluid levels are topped up adequately also goes for your engine too.  Break fluid, engine fluid, engine coolant, transmission fluid and power steering fluid will all have their own levels that they need to remain topped up to.  Always ensure that they are.

Remember, all the care in the world can’t provide a 100% guarantee that your car will never breakdown, so to find out just how cheap breakdown cover can be, give us a call now on 0800 0199519.
