Tips On Driving In Europe

by NCI 9. November 2010 13:46

There are few things more exciting than embarking on a long driving trip across some of the beautiful lands in Europe.  However, as well as ensuring you have the correct European breakdown cover, there are other things you must take care of before making your trip:

Always take your complete selection of driving documents so you can completely prove that the vehicle is yours in case of any mishaps with local law enforcement.

Make sure that you contact your insurer and your European breakdown company before you leave and get them to advise which documentation you will need, and to make sure that your european breakdown cover fully covers you for every eventuality: taking the risk is a bad idea when in a foreign country.

Don’t drink and drive in any circumstance.  The limit in the UK is higher than the majority of European countries, so avoid alcohol unless you’re planning to get a cab.

Ensure that you have a GB sign somewhere on your car, whether it’s a simple sticker or European license plate.  Also, it’s essential to make sure that your headlights are adjusted accordingly, as they will currently be set for UK roads: however, converter kits are easily available from most UK motoring vendors.
