Whilst UK breakdown cover has long been considered important by any road users blessed with sensibilities, financial advice website Money Supermarket.com has now recommended the cover as a great method for those under debt management plans to help save money.

With winter driving conditions now setting in, the website has noted that with 4,500 car accidents occurring yearly in the winter months, motorists that are less well off would be well advised to purchase yearly breakdown cover, as it could end up proving far less expensive that having your car repaired by even the cheapest garage.

Money Supermarket has advised that cover can be obtained from as little as £29.70, and that these policies can cover roadside repairs, recovery to the nearest garage as well as alternative travel and accommodation costs.  These costs could potentially move up into the thousands if they weren’t paid as a result of the cover.

Speaking on behalf of MS, Head of Car Insurance Steve Sweeny stated that there was ‘really no excuse’ for motorists to ‘run the risk of being stranded’  by not taking out suitable and adequate cover.

Mr Sweeny finally noted that ‘breakdown cover really is worth paying for if you want the peace of mind that you will be rescued if your car does grind to a halt.’
