Breakdown Complaints 'On The Rise'

by NCI 3. January 2011 02:09

As part of the latest news regarding UK breakdown cover, it should come as no surprise that the latest figures show that claims on breakdown cover UK claims have increased over the winter break, with the snow and ice continuing to wreak havoc on various country roads.

The AA have reported that the climb in breakdown cover claims has reached ten percent across the Christmas period, with snow and ice accounting for around one fifth of the problems, and the rest being generally related to the hazardous weather.

However, in Scotland and Wales the snow and ice account for fifty-one and thirty-four percent respectively, showing the impact that winter is having on motorists in the north and the west.

Speaking on behalf of the AA, Director of Insurance Simon Douglas commented that any official warnings regarding road use should be heeded, as choosing to ignore them could create significant risks, and that when there is snow and ice on the roads that motorists should avoid using the roads wherever possible.

Obtaining the correct breakdown cover UK wide has been noted as a priority by several providers, especially when it comes to potentially hazardous winter weather.  With the cheapest policies costing around £25 and general call outs costing up to £200, it is considered by many to be a false economy to avoid purchasing a breakdown policy, especially in current conditions.
