Messy UK motorists may be causing themselves more damage than they might think by having untidy cars, the latest research in the industry has revealed.
The research, which comes courtesy of Confused.com has revealed that almost a fifth of the UK’s motorists have been involved in some sort of accident that has resulted from having an untidy vehicle, with half of the car owners surveyed admitting that they only clean their car once a year. What’s more remarkable is that 8% of Brits revealed that they never clean their car at all!
Speaking on the matter, head of car insurance Gareth Kloet noted that ‘untidy cars are literally littered with potential dangers on the road. Empty cans risk becoming lodged under drivers’ control pedals and crisp packets blowing around in a moving vehicle can distract a driver’s attention..
As part of their mission to raise awareness about this particular danger, Confused.com teamed up with Jessica Wright, Nanny Pat and Sam Faiers from the hit TV show ‘The Only Way is Essex’ for a photo shoot taking place in the back of a rubbish filled car.
An authority on the subject (sic) Nanny Pat commented that ‘I’m very house proud and I think the same should apply for cars. It’s important to keep your car tidy to avoid risks on the road.’
That’s us told, then!
