In what could be seen as rather unique piece of news from the UK motoring world, it has been revealed that the increase in price for motor insurance has led to drivers actually being more honest with their companies regarding smaller details on their applications.
Confused.com – a leading website that compares the cheapest prices across the UK insurance market – carried out a recent survey in which it was revealed that 12% of women and 17% admitted that they had lied on their most recent car insurance forms. Compared to the figures of 32% and 46% last year, this is likely to be considered a heavy improvement over the years.
Some of the most common lies that are made by UK drivers include the amount of miles that the car has done, as well as the amount of previous incidents that the vehicle has incurred over the previous year’s driving.
London is the city that carries the biggest statistical reputation for lying on their forms according to the statistics, with 19% of those living in the big smoke being rather, ahem, economical with the truth.
Needless to say, lying on your insurance forms is a heavily derided practise, and one that could potentially lead to prosecution should you be discovered – not to mention significant fines and having to repay the legitimate costs of your policy.
