Bogus Car Insurance Considered By Over 1 Million

by NCI 21. July 2011 13:45

The latest news from the UK motoring industry has revealed that over a million drivers have considered manufacturing an accident in order to try and claim money as part of their insurance.

Carried out by Moneysupermarket.com, four per cent of those surveyed – around 1.3 million motorists – stated that they would be prepared to claim fraudulently, with 2 per cent admitting that they had already chosen to do so.

The London drivers were apparently the most likely to indulge in this practise, with ten per cent of motorists admitting to do so, with the Welsh the opposite end of the spectrum with one per cent.

The percentage of younger drivers involved was also a concern, with one in twenty admitting to some form of fabrication of exaggeration on their insurance in order to obtain compensation.

Speaking on this issue, Moneysupermarket car insurance expert Peter Harrison stated that ‘It seems Brits really are going a step too far this time.  Any motor insurance claim proved to involve an organised accident will be considered as fraudulent by an insurer, and is likely to have drastic, long-term affects on your motoring as a consequence.’

He also made it known that you could obtain an official ‘fraud mark’ as a result of indulging in any form of mis-representation.
