Small fuel-efficient cars on the rise

According to the latest industry figures hybrid cars are on the rise, as car sales increase 7.6% from last year. The Ford Focus remains the most popular car, holding the top spot for the past four years, with other small cars ranking highly including the Ford Focus, the Vauxhall Corsa and the Volkswagen Golf and Polo.

The larger Nissan Juke and Qashqai also feature on this list – a crossover car which has the best of a 4X4 vehicle and a city car.

The figures were provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) who said that the results were highly influenced by consumers looking for a more fuel-efficient car.  Read the rest of this entry »

Motorists installing dashboard cameras to capture bad driving

It’s something that has been popular for years in Russia due to the amount of car insurance fraud. Now it seems like we’re following suit as sales of dash cams have been soaring to record accidents with road users.

The cameras are popular with cyclists as many choose to opt to wear the cameras on their helmets, uploading footage online to show scraps with drivers. Often used as the basis for police complaints, this type of video can be vital in convicting dangerous road users. Read the rest of this entry »

Formula 2014 official photos released

With the Formula One season only a few weeks away, official photos have been released of the cars competitors will be driving. The cars are perhaps some of the most radically different designs seen in recent years mostly because of the rule changes Formula 1 has imposed on participants.
